Georgina Standen Sirona Health

Georgina's passion for women's health began at a young age when her aunt suffered from pre-eclampsia and had to deliver prematurely. Her fascination with the mysteries behind hospital doors led her to pursue a career as a doctor. During her gap year, she worked at a hospital in a deprived rural part of India where she found herself drawn to the labour ward. There, she discovered that language was no barrier to providing support to women during what could be the best or worst time of their lives.

In medical school, Georgina's interest in obstetrics and gynecology was rekindled, and after graduation, she embarked on a path towards specialisation in women's health. Her own personal health struggles due to shift work, long hours, and an unhealthy lifestyle led her to explore the importance of lifestyle for health. She found that conventional medicine had its limits and was frustrated with being dismissed by medical professionals when they couldn't easily find a cause for her symptoms. After some introspection, she pivoted towards general practice, and her health fully recovered.

Georgina became a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and used the opportunity to expand her women's health knowledge by working in sexual health and a sexual assault referral center. She achieved the highest score in the country on the diploma in obstetrics & gynaecology and became a member of the Faculty of Sexual & Reproductive Healthcare.

After over a decade of supporting patients, including through the pandemic, Georgina's respect for a holistic outlook on health has deepened. She has broadened her training to include integrative medicine from the UK National Centre for Integrative Medicine and the USA Andrew Weil Centre for Integrative Medicine.

Through Sirona Health, Georgina hopes to provide women with the time, compassion, and information they need to empower them on a path to a healthier and happier life. She believes that this personalized approach is often missing from the NHS and is determined to fill this gap.
